What Separates the GOLD Line Warranty from Other Toner Cartridges?

150 150 LD Products

As a dealer, it’s important to have a good warranty on the products you sell. Offering a quality warranty to your customers shows that you are committed to providing excellent service and care, while also giving them the security and peace of mind that their purchases are protected. A quality warranty makes it clear to your customers that they can trust you.

We asked Christian Pepper, President, LD Channel Partner Division, to explain what separates the GOLD Line warranty from those of other toner cartridges.

Christian’s response: I think there are three things that separate the GOLD Line warranty from those of other toner providers.

  1. When we launched the GOLD Line in 2018, we were the first organization to have a lifetime warranty, rather than a one or two-year warranty, which all other toner providers typically offer.
  2. Our warranty is very simple to claim and deal with. Dealers have told us that when they work with other vendors and need to send a replacement cartridge to their customer, they receive an invoice for it – then they have to fill in a purchase order and send the defective product back to the vendor in order to get a credit. We don’t do any of that. We send out a free-of-charge replacement, there’s no paperwork, or if you want a credit, we’ll give you a credit. Then we try to get back every single cartridge to autopsy it and find out what is wrong with that product so that we can make improvements.
  3. If you change providers and work with us, we know you’re making an investment in that relationship with us. So, we’ll take over the warranty of your previous vendors’ products should they fail. Usually, the reason dealers switch to GOLD Line is they find out that our quality is much higher than other vendors in the market. The fact that we’ll take over the warranty management of their cartridges shows that we’re investing in the relationship with our customers.

Our GOLD Line cartridges undergo rigorous testing and monitoring for performance, quality, and page yield. If you or your customer are not completely satisfied, we’ll gladly replace the product and compensate you for labor costs. All our GOLD Line cartridges are backed by a lifetime guarantee.

Why Invest in BLI Testing of the GOLD Line Series of Toner Products?

150 150 LD Products

Buyers Laboratory (BLI) is an independent provider of analytical information and services to the digital imaging and document management industry. BLI publishes the industry’s most comprehensive and accurate test reports, each representing months of exhaustive hands-on testing in BLI’s US and UK laboratories.

We asked Christian Pepper, President, of LD Channel Partner Division to tell us why they decided to put the GOLD Line series of toner products through the rigorous BLI testing process.

Christian’s response: We launched the GOLD Line in January 2018, and at that time there were only OEM cartridges, high-quality remanufactured cartridges (which is my background and the team’s background) and low-cost, low-quality new build compatible cartridges.

We had set ourselves the task of building the highest quality product in the marketplace, bar none. We really needed an independent third party, credible testing of our product, so that customers could look at that objectively and not just fall for a sales pitch. Everybody says they make the best product, but we needed an organization to prove it.

In the history of the toner after-market industry, we’re one of only two companies that have ever subjected themselves to BLI testing. One of the interesting things about the Buyers Lab testing is you can’t send them samples of your product; they don’t allow that. Instead, you have to give them your customer base and then they source cartridges directly from them. They bring those cartridges back to the Buyers Lab where they test them in a secure environment against OEM products.

By doing that testing, we’re able to bring a level of credibility to our product, that can convince dealers that we’re a good organization to work with and that our product quality and service can walk the talk.

At LD Channel Partner Division, we understand how important it is for dealers to have confidence in the products they sell. That’s why we put our GOLD Line series of toner products through the Buyers Lab testing process. Dealers can have peace of mind knowing they’re selling top-of-the-line toner products with a prestigious seal of approval. To see the full BLI report, click here.

4 Questions Every Dealer Should Ask a New Toner Provider

150 150 LD Products

When interviewing a new toner vendor for your dealership, asking the right questions can make all the difference. Taking the time to research and determine which inquiries will give you key insights into their capabilities, commitment level, credibility and cost-effectiveness is well worth it for a successful partnership!

Christian Pepper, President, of LD Channel Partner Division answers the question: What Questions Should a Dealer Ask When Considering Toner Providers?”

Here are the four questions that Christian suggests asking:

  1. Ask for References: I would first ask for a list of references of near-peer dealers that you know and trust and can speak about the company that you’re considering.
  1. Ask for 3rd Party Test Results: The second question I would ask is if the provider has some independent and credible third-party testing of their products; an organization like Buyers Laboratory, for example.
  1. Ask About Inventory Availability: Supply chain issues have been prevalent over the past few years, so I would ask how the organization plans its inventory volumes, how much inventory it’s carrying, and how long its supply chain is. That way, if you come on board with them, you know that you can depend upon them for the products you need.
  1. Ask for Performance Data by SKU: It’s not good enough to say you make the best quality products on the market and you have a less than 1% return rate. I would ask to see performance data by SKU so that you have confidence in the vendor that you’re thinking of working with.

How Should an Imaging Dealer Select a New Toner Provider?

150 150 LD Products

Finding the right toner provider for your dealership is critical to your success. It’s important to take the time to evaluate potential toner providers in terms of quality and cost-effectiveness to ultimately find a trusted partner whose product you can count on each and every day. Wise selection is key – so let’s explore how best to choose that perfect fit for your business!

We asked Christian Pepper, President, of LD Channel Partner Division to answer the question: How Should an Imaging Dealer Select a New Toner Provider?”

Christian’s response: The traditional way to choose a new toner provider is to first ask for some toner samples, then give them to a couple of friendly accounts and let them try them for several months. If they perform okay, then you change vendors. To me, this is a very risky way to choose a toner provider if you own a dealership.

At LD Channel Partner Division we have a better solution. We built a system where we’ve tracked every cartridge we’ve ever manufactured and supplied to our customers. We also collect every return that we get and autopsy it to find out what went wrong so we can make improvements. All that data is available online to our existing customers and prospects so they can analyze any of the SKUs they are thinking about buying. And you can see collectively the experience that all 300 of our customers have had over the last five years of purchasing GOLD Line cartridges.

You can still do your own testing if you want to reassure yourself, but you can easily see this data visualized in a graph format instead. Hopefully, that will help you make a better decision for your organization. And, if I might make one more suggestion, ask any vendor you’re considering working with to provide you with historical data of the SKUs you are interested in, including historical data, how many have been purchased, how many were returned, what the issues were and what the corrective actions were. That will give you a good indication of how reputable the toner provider is.

We know how critical a good toner partner is to the success of your business. That’s why at LD Channel Partner Division our goal is to help you make informed decisions about the toner products you provide to your customers.

How Can Toner Quality Issues Affect a Dealership?

150 150 LD Products

You only get one chance to make a first impression. That’s why it is essential to ensure that all the products and services you offer are held to the same high standards that you have set for your dealership. You want to make sure that the overall impression you make is a positive one and leaves a lasting impact.

That’s why we asked Brett Noble, Sr. Business Development Manager, LD Channel Partner Division: “How can toner quality issues affect a dealership?”

Brett’s Response: Murphy’s Law tells us when a toner issue happens it’s usually on the most critical device, like the CEO’s desktop printer. When something like this happens, it reflects poorly on your dealership. We care a lot that something like this doesn’t happen to you! At the end of the day, your brand is your livelihood, and you don’t want a cartridge to be the reason that your business is negatively affected. When it comes to your brand, I think one of the most harmful things that can happen is a cartridge failure or toner issue.

In this competitive market, maintaining customer satisfaction and a healthy bottom-line hinge upon reliable toner products. Poor quality can lead to irreparably damaged relationships with customers who may look elsewhere for vendors and put your dealership’s profitability at risk. Not only do dealers have to compensate their clients or offer discounts, but they also risk draining resources trying to fix the problem. It’s in every dealer’s best interest to prioritize product excellence from day one!

65% of customers said they have changed to a different vendor because of a poor experience. (Khoros)

You worked hard to establish your business’ solid reputation, why leave it to chance? Selecting only the finest products and the best partners to represent your brand not only helps safeguard your hard-earned reputation but also sets the foundation for continued growth and success in the future. Don’t take chances with your reputation – choose quality at every front to secure a bright future for your dealership!

How Can the GOLD Line Packaging Help Dealers?

150 150 LD Products

Packaging is a critical part of the marketing and selling process for any product. It helps to create a memorable and visually appealing experience for end users, while also serving as a practical way to ensure that products arrive safe and intact at their destination. Premium packaging can have a huge influence on the perception of a product and its value.

That’s why we asked Christian Pepper, President, LD Channel Partner Division to answer the question: “How can the GOLD Line packaging help dealers?”

Christian’s Response: We get a lot of complimentary feedback from dealers on our packaging. There are a couple of things that dealers comment on most. The first thing is that people buy everything with their eyes. First impressions are incredibly important, and no matter how great your product or service is, it won’t get a second look if the packaging isn’t attractive. We recognize that people are judging the quality of the cartridge before they even put it in the printer and test its printout. So, we want that outer box experience to be really good. Just like our product is called GOLD Line, we have gold foil on our box. We want to demonstrate that there is a premium product inside.

Additionally, other competitors in the remanufactured industry tend to use about 10 different box sizes for the 5,000 SKUs that they make. So, what you end up with is very large boxes with a lot of filler around small toner cartridges. By comparison, every single GOLD Line SKU has an individually designed box, and that box is designed to be minimal in size to ship cartridges safely and reduce shipping costs, which saves our dealers money. It also means less storage space is needed in customer storage cabinets.

The LD Channel Partner Division understands that packaging is a key factor in forming end-user impressions of their product. The premium GOLD Line packaging has been extremely successful in helping us differentiate our toner from other options on the market.

What impression do your customers get when they receive and open your aftermarket cartridge packaging?

• Extended Yields

Does the manufacturer offer extended yield cartridges to maximize profitability on MPS and cost-per-page agreements?

Does the manufacturer provide real-time quality control analysis and take a proactive approach to any potential issues?

Can you deliver a product to customers with the distribution reach, accuracy, and speed they need?

Quality products earn a reputation among industry leaders. Have the cartridges been recognized by the community?

• Peer Review

If you asked fellow dealers about their experience, what would they say?

Does the manufacturer make you jump through hoops or complete endless paperwork to prove their cartridges are faulty?

Providing excellent service to your customers is the key to a profitable 2023! Selecting the right aftermarket toner partner will help you differentiate yourself from the competition, all while making a big difference to your customers and your bottom line in the coming new year.

It’s been a while since OEM or aftermarket toner cartridges were tested by the industry’s most trusted lab at BLI. Here at LD Channel Partners Division, we invested in these tests to offer Imaging Dealers and their customers proof of quality and performance by a 3rd party.

This blog highlights how impressed BLI was with our new build GOLD Line cartridges when compared to regular and extended yield OEM cartridges.

How BLI Testing Works

To objectively test products from an end-user perspective, BLI confidentially sources print cartridges from dealers and compares their functionality to genuine OEM cartridges.

Their testing and evaluation process takes a full month. Devices are set to run at accelerated volumes using an industry-standard target to accurately compare the cartridges on print quality, yield, and value.

Here are BLI’s findings when putting our award-winning LD GOLD line cartridges to the test.

LD GOLD Line CF226X vs OEM Toner

BLI tested our GOLD Line CF226X new-build toner cartridge versus the HP CF226X cartridge, and the results were impressive.

BLI found:

  • LD GOLD Line cartridges produced good overall quality with darker, richer solids than those produced by HP.
  • All the LD GOLD Line cartridges tested operated reliably, completed all testing with no malfunctions, and surpassed rated yields.
  • LD GOLD Line cartridges offer a significantly lower cost-of-ownership than the OEM cartridges.

LD GOLD Line CF281X Extended Yield vs 25,000 Page HP CF281X

Our extended yield cartridges did extremely well when compared to the HP OEM 25,000-page cartridges.

BLI found:

  • The LD GOLD Line extended yield cartridges are rated for 40,000 pages; however, yield surpassed the rated yield by 16% averaging 46,507 pages.
  • Buyers Lab calculated that LD GOLD Line extended yield toner cartridges cost up to 60% less than the OEM cartridges when printing 15,000 pages per month over five years.

The Value of GOLD Line Cartridges

BLI testing shows that our standard and extended yield cartridges offer incredible value compared to OEM cartridges. The quality of our LD GOLD Line cartridges is better than OEM cartridges with darker, richer solids. Our extended yield cartridges exceed the page yield of the OEM cartridges and offer an operational cost 60% less than OEM. This can mean significant cost savings over time. That money translates directly to your company’s bottom line!

4 Types of Toner Cartridges Imaging Dealers Need to Know About

150 150 LD Products

Before you place your next toner order, let’s make sure you know all the options available to you as an imaging dealer.

In this article, we’ll share the four different types of print cartridges so you can make an educated selection on the best value for you customers and your business

1. Genuine OEM

These print cartridges are made by the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). They include a brand-new shell, new components and have never been used in a print device before. They only work in the manufacturers printers and tend to cost about 20 – 50% more than the alternatives below. That said, the quality is guaranteed because it’s a brand-new cartridge and most end users perceive more value in a new cartridge vs a “previously enjoyed alternative”.

2. New (LD GOLD Line)

Just like an OEM print cartridge, the LD GOLD Line is manufactured with 100% brand new components and a brand-new shell. The cartridge has never been used before, and it comes with the same or better yield and quality than most OEM cartridges according to Buyers Lab test results. Unlike the OEM print cartridge, the LD GOLD Line serves multiple product lines and comes with the industry’s best performance guarantee. The LD GOLD Line series of premium quality print cartridges was made for dealers looking to offer a brand-new cartridge with much bigger profit margins than an OEM product.

3. Remanufactured (Used)

A remanufactured cartridge is a print cartridge that has been used at least one time before being disassembled and put back together for resale. Not unlike a used car, there are components that have wear and tear because not all components are replaced. Depending on the remanufacturing process, the batch, and the individual manually taking the cartridge apart and putting it back together, the quality of a remanufactured cartridge can vary greatly.

Most remanufactured cartridges are sold under agreements that don’t stipulate the type or quality of cartridge included. Remanufactured cartridges cost less than OEM cartridges but come with a reputation of lower yields, quality fluctuations and replacement issues.

Dealers looking to maximize profits not achievable with an OEM cartridge often select the LD GOLD Line cartridge because it offers the performance of an OEM cartridge at a lower cost, allowing the dealer to maintain healthy margins.

4. Drill and Fill

Just like the name says, this is perhaps the most primitive way to extend the life of a print cartridge. Unlike the remanufacturing process that requires the cartridge be broken in half (to access the internal components), the drill and fill process means that someone is drilling a hole in the side of the cartridge and then pouring toner particles back into the cavity before closing the hole.

Drill and fill print cartridges tend to be lower cost but come with the warning flags of poor yields, less than satisfactory quality, and upset customers. By reputation alone, most drill and fill operations have gone out of business or work with select resellers targeting highly price sensitive, one-time customers.

Summary

Smart imaging dealers know the difference between these print cartridge options. They also know their customers’ expectations and the cost of losing a customer over a toner issue. Depending on your business goals, hopefully this article helps you select the best toner cartridge for your business!

20 Million Reasons Imaging Dealers Select LD GOLD Line Toner

150 150 LD Products

Thanks to hundreds of imaging dealers who prioritize value driven toner solutions for their end users, we’re proud to announce that we’ve already exceeded $20,000,000 in sales of LD’s exclusive GOLD Line series of toner cartridges.

Rather than list off 20 million reasons why dealers have moved their traditional spend on OEM or remanufactured cartridges to our GOLD Line series, here’s some actual comments on why dealers like you have made the switch.

“LD GOLD Line cartridges provide differentiation in a commoditized toner market.”

Buying toner can often be confusing for an end user. But ask someone if they would prefer a BRAND NEW cartridge vs. a used / remanufactured cartridge and their answer will be pretty predictable – they prefer new.

As you may know, the LD GOLD Line series of toner cartridges are manufactured using a brand-new shell with 100% brand-new top-quality components inside. The result is better quality, longer yields and repeat customers.

Need a reason for more customers to select you? Maybe it’s time to consider our award-winning LD GOLD Line series!

“I can offer a 100% NEW cartridge at remanufactured margins.”

Whether you sell toner on a transactional or contractual basis (a.k.a. Managed Print Services), you know customers don’t always want to pay the premium for an OEM cartridge and at the same time, they don’t want to deal with the common issues associated with remanufactured cartridges like lower yields, print quality fluctuations and of course leakage requiring service on a printer.

Offering a cartridge that’s 100% NEW gives customers an OEM quality cartridge at a lower cost while still protecting your margins over remanufactured alternatives.

“The GOLD Line performance is better than OEM.”

According to Buyers Lab testing, LD GOLD Line cartridges outperformed leading OEM cartridges in yield, print quality resolution and overall value. Don’t take our word for it, you know Buyers Lab does their homework. Ask us for your copy of the official report comparing a popular LD GOLD Line cartridge to a leading OEM cartridge.

“Your return policy is the EASIEST by far.”

Dealers tell us they simply don’t have the time or manpower to chase down suppliers for replacement cartridges or credits for faulty ones. That’s why we keep it simple. If you’re not happy with our cartridge, just tell us and we’ll ship you another one no questions asked. No paperwork, no red tape, no hassles. We’re that confident in every cartridge we make.

“The LD Gold Line packaging looks like a quality product.”

If you judge a book by it’s cover, maybe your customers are judging your print cartridges by the packaging as well. There’s a reason we spent the time to create impactful packaging; so your customer’s experience starts long before they put the cartridge in their printer.

Although it may not be a priority for all dealers, so many tell us the professional, clean, and impactful packaging helps them distinguish their offering from inferior alternatives.

“My LD sales rep isn’t a rookie.”

You need more than pricing and availability from your vendors to win in today’s hypercompetitive market. You can also tell when your sales rep understands your business, your market, and the industry. That’s why we’ve carefully selected proven industry veterans to help you identify and seize new profit opportunities based on years of experience helping dealers grow their top and bottom line.

If you’re an LD Channel Partner customer, we thank you for helping us break $20,000,000 in sales so quickly. If not, maybe these dealer comments will inspire you to rethink your toner strategy moving forward.
